As part of a regional approach to suicide prevention, Lifeline Macarthur has been commissioned by South Western Sydney PHN to provide the following services throughout South Western Sydney:
- Lifeline Crisis Support Suicide Aftercare Program
The Lifeline Crisis Support Suicide Aftercare Program offers free short term telephone crisis support to people (over 18 years of age) in South Western Sydney who have attempted suicide. A non-clinical service, we provide outgoing phone calls to monitor an individual’s wellbeing and help keep the person connected. Phone calls are provided by an accredited and experienced Lifeline Crisis Supporter. The program aligns with national and state mental health reforms and suicide prevention priorities.
- Suicide Bereavement Support Groups
Our groups will be a safe place for adults (aged 18 and over) to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings with others who understand. Our groups will be closed groups that meet weekly for 8 weeks. Groups will be structured so that those who are bereaved can share their experience as well as being supported in managing and understanding their grief.
- ECLIPSE Support Groups for Suicide Attempt Survivors
ECLIPSE is a group for adults (aged 18 and over) who have survived a suicide attempt, regardless of whether the attempt was recent or in the past. The group is a safe, confidential space where people can talk openly about their suicidal ideation and attempts with others with similar lived experiences without fear of stigma or shame. The group also offers emotional support and explores coping strategies to help participants stay safe in the future. The group is a closed 8 week group and it is important for participants to commit to attend each week if possible. ECLIPSE is a support group, not therapy so it is recommended that participants have additional resources and supports outside of the group.
- Suicide Preventions Networks & SWS Suicide Prevention Regional Hub
Our objective is to bring together health, education and emergency service professionals and community members to help save lives – by identifying and establishing collaborative community responses and prevention strategies, means restriction initiatives, increasing suicide education and awareness and breaking down the stigma surrounding suicide.
- Gatekeeper Training
Community education and awareness is critical to building resilient and suicide safe communities. Lifeline is a registered training organisation and Lifeline Macarthur is offering free training to people living, working and studying within South Western Sydney.
