About Group Lifestyle Triple P Training

Group Lifestyle Triple P is a multi-component intervention for families with overweight or obese children. The aim of the program is to help parents develop effective strategies for managing their child’s weight by introducing gradual permanent changes to their family’s lifestyle. Group Lifestyle Triple P consists of ten 90-minute group sessions and four telephone support calls.

Parents who benefit are those who have children aged between 5 and 10 years and are concerned about their child’s weight and activity level. Parents need to be able to commit to up to 6 months of regular contact and be willing to make changes in their whole family’s lifestyle.

South Western Sydney PHN are providing an opportunity for health and community workers to undertake training to become an accredited Group Lifestyle Triple P practitioner. It is desirable that practitioners have some knowledge of child development, physical science and food nutrition. The course will run over 6 days plus time spent on preparation.

Agency Training provides the highest level of customisation and support to your Triple P delivery.

All training includes:
• Training and accreditation
• Pre-accreditation workshop
• Training materials
• Triple P practitioner resources
• Access to the Triple P Provider Network
• Access to the Triple P Automatic Scoring and Reporting Applications
• Access to support from a Triple P Implementation Consultant

Coordinators and managers should consider time commitments needed for supervision, peer support and local quality assurance procedure when developing service delivery targets. Once accredited, the practitioner will deliver the program at their own discretion and nominal fee to meet their expenditure. Please understand that in turn for attending free training, you are required to maintain contact with the ‘Training Coordinator’ to provide feedback about how the delivery of the program is running.
