Steptember - congratulations to all who participated or donated
15th October 2021
Twenty-eight SWSPHN staff stepped up and out for Steptember in 2021, taking an impressive 7,543,940 steps – or almost a trip from Sydney to Perth and back – between 1 and 30 September to raise awareness and funds for people living with cerebral palsy.
Steptember is held each year and participants walk, swim, ride, wheel or spin their way to 10,000 steps per day in a fun and safe environment.
It funds vital equipment, therapy and services, or money can be directed to fund ground-breaking research into the prevention of and cure for the life-long condition which affects body movement, muscle control, coordination and tone, reflex, posture and balance.
SWSPHN staff look forward to the opportunity each year to improve our fitness, develop new healthy habits, enjoy time (and even compete) with friends and workmates (virtually), and most importantly, raise money for a worthy cause.
Donations are still coming in, but Steptember 2021 has already been one for the history books with:
- More than $17 million raised for people with cerebral palsy
- Participants taking a whopping 34 billion steps
You still have until Sunday, 31 October to get any final donations in and make an even bigger impact for children and adults with cerebral palsy.
