Who can get tested?

Anyone with respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, tiredness  or unexplained fever should get tested for COVID-19 (coronavirus). Testing will help to identify and isolate cases in the community as quickly as possible.

GP Respiratory Clinics

Get tested for free at one of the GP Respiratory Clinics in: 

GP Respiratory Clinics are run by a GP (doctor) and are funded by the Australian Government, so there is
no cost for you. You will be given healthcare information on how to manage your symptoms. 

You don’t need a GP referral to get tested at a Respiratory Clinic but you need to book an appointment

Receiving results
After you are tested, the GP Respiratory Clinic will contact you with your results.

Positive iconIf you have a positive result, you will receive further care and information from the clinic and Public Health Unit. 
Negative iconIf you have a negative result, you can return to your regular GP for care.

Public COVID-19 Flu Assessment Clinics

If you don’t live near a GP Respiratory Clinic, you can get tested at a public COVID-19 clinic (located at hospitals or as pop-up clinics). These are funded by NSW State Government, so there is no cost for you. 
The clinics are run by senior nursing staff (not doctors). You do not need an appointment or a GP referral.

Bowral & District Hospital

Receiving results
After you are tested, you will be contacted with your results.
Positive iconIf you have a positive result, you will receive further care and information from the Public Health Unit. 
Negative iconThe clinic will let you know if you have a negative result and you can return to your regular GP for care. 

 

Private Pathology testing

Your regular GP may offer COVID-19 (coronavirus) testing using the services of a private pathology clinic. Contact your regular GP to find out more information. 

 

Drive-through testing

If you do not live near any of the free GP Respiratory Clinics, you can go to be tested at one of the drive-through clinics located in Bankstown, Camden and Liverpool. 

  • The drive-through offers sample collection only (testing). 
  • You need to have a referral from your GP.
  • You may need to book an appointment. Check the drive-through clinic's website in advance or call for more information.
  • When attending the drive-though, you DO NOT get out of vehicle at any time.
