Changes to access of PPE available through the National Medical Stockpile

The Department of Health has made additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available to general practice to support their management of COVID positive people in the community.

In line with new guidance, general practices which are caring for COVID-19 positive patients face-to-face will have access to one (1) PPE bundle per clinician, per month from the National Medical Stockpile.

(PPE bundles contain P2/N95 respirators, either goggles or face shields, full length gowns, gloves, surgical masks and hand sanitiser).

General practices which are caring for COVID-19 positive patients virtually and respiratory patients face-to-face, will have access to one (1) bundle of P2/N95 and goggles or face shields per clinician, per month until March 2022.

Community pharmacists directly administering COVID-19 vaccinations will have access to one (1) goggle or face shield, and a monthly order of P2/N95 per clinician until March 2022.
