Do you or your family know where to access medical care when your GP is closed?

If you live in South Western Sydney, you can access After Hours services.

The After Hours GP service is non-emergency medical care available when your regular GP (doctor) is closed, such as late at night or on weekends.

After hours periods are:

  • before 8am or after 6pm on weekdays
  • before 8am or after 12pm (noon) on Saturdays, and
  • all day on Sundays and public holidays

IMPORTANT NOTE: The below services do not replace your GP or the ambulance service. If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing or uncontrolled bleeding call 000 without delay.

My Emergency Doctor

If you live in South Western Sydney, you can access free* After Hours medical care, with My Emergency Doctor's teleheath service. 
This service is supported by funding from South Western Sydney PHN through the Australian Government’s PHN program.

What is My Emergency Doctor?
My Emergency Doctor is able to assist you at times when your regular GP is closed, you cannot find another GP open and you are not sure if you need to go to the (ED) emergency department.

It is a telemedicine service connecting South Western Sydney residents with a team of emergency doctors via the phone or an app video call.
The My Emergency Doctor team can:

  • Make rapid and accurate assessments via phone and video calls
  • Provide prescriptions, specialist referrals and x-ray requests
  • Help you avoid spending hours waiting in the ED
     

IMPORTANT: My Emergency Doctor is not a replacement for your GP or the ambulance service. If a patient is experiencing a time-critical emergency and/or is unconscious, has chest pain, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding or has been in a major accident, please dial 000 immediately.

People living in South Western Sydney local government areas of Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee and Wollondilly.

  • Take note of extended work hours your local GP may have during the holidays
