New National Bowel Cancer Screening Program test kit now available 4th April 2018
A new immunochemical faecal occult blood test (iFOBT) kit, and associated pathology service, has been introduced into the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program this year. The program is a population-based screening program aiming to detect bowel cancer early and reduce the number of deaths each year from the disease. New Medicare Overview in My Health Record 7th February 2018

The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) is undertaking an audit study to assess the effectiveness of the data recording, handling and transfer of immunisation encounters to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and identify any barriers for the timeliness and accuracy of data. As you may be aware, there has been some discussion in the media recently about the issue of breast density and how it may relate to mammographic screening (ie, on a mammogram dense breast tissue appears white and so too does breast cancer, therefore cancer can be ‘masked’ by dense breast tissue, making it harder to see). .

A late diagnosis increases the risk of morbidity and mortality, and can contribute to ongoing HIV transmission before the person with HIV infection is aware of their HIV status.
And because many patients don’t realise they’re at risk of HIV, they don’t communicate potential risk behaviours that could prompt testing soon after exposure.
